Working Miracles for Severely Malnourished Children

When UNICEF Kid Power team members get active to save lives they help malnourished children like Younas. Seven weeks before this picture was taken at a UNICEF-supported clinic in Pakistan, the 10-month-old was weak and losing weight by the day. He was suffering from severe acute malnutrition. But he is now well on the road to recovery. Thanks to Ready to Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) packets unlocked by the UNICEF Kid Power team.

Often called a “miracle food,” RUTF is a high-energy peanut paste that contains everything kids suffering from severe acute malnutrition need to get back on track. It needs no refrigeration and stays fresh for up to two years. Parents don’t have to add fresh water, which can be limited in countries where kids are suffering most. All moms and dads have to do is open the packet, feed their kids and watch them grow healthy and strong.

Help Younas and other severely malnourished children around the world get their chance to survive and thrive. Go to your Coach Dashboard and complete Kid Power Ups and activities today.

If you’re not signed up yet, UNICEF Kid Power is free to all educators in the U.S. It takes less than 1 minute to sign-up and 5 minutes to get started playing your first Kid Power Up with your class.
