Teachers Show Students How RUTF is Made

Have your Kid Power students asked you, “What is RUTF?” or “How do they make RUTF?” If so, or even if they haven’t yet (you can assume they will eventually!), this Kid Power Up is for you!

In this 5-minute Connect video, students learn exactly what is RUTF (Ready-to-Use-Therapeutic Food) and the entire process for how it is made. The best part is that features real-life teachers from Get Your Teach On. These engaging teachers will help students gain a deeper understanding of the impact they make by doing Kid Power Ups.

Special host Chris Pombonyo introduces students to the importance of RUTF. Referred to as “miracle food,” it is used to treat and save the lives of severely malnourished children around the globe.

Next, Chris takes students to an actual RUTF factory in Niger. In an interactive tour, he shows students what the full process of making these lifesaving RUTF packets looks like.

Finally, he is joined by special Get Your Teach On teachers — Wade King, Amelia Capotosta, Greg Coleman and Rachelle Smith — who lead students in a fun activity that helps them learn and experience the real-life process, right in the classroom!

Real-life teachers take students through an activity that gets them re-enacting the process for making lifesaving RUTF packets!

Take 5-minutes today and do this Kid Power Up with your class. It will help unlock more lifesaving RUTF packets for malnourished children around the globe!
