As a day to promote healthy eating and tackle world hunger, World Food Day was created by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations in 1979.
Around the world, almost 200 million children under 5 years old are malnourished, and those from low-income families are hit the hardest.
This World Food Day, UNICEF Kid Power and Kahoot! are excited to come together to amplify impact with a World Food Day-themed kahoot quiz.
Nutrition has long been at the core of UNICEF’s work. In 2018, UNICEF helped provide lifesaving therapeutic treatment for over 4 million children suffering from severe acute malnutrition.
Students can be a part of UNICEF Kid Power doing this important work to provide therapeutic food packets (called Ready-to-Use-Therapeutic Food, or RUTF for short) to severely malnourished children.
Through this new partnership with Kahoot!, classrooms across the country can play this kahoot to learn about malnutrition, healthy eating, and how they can make a difference in the world! Every 10 plays unlocks one packet of RUTF for severely malnourished children around the world.
