November 20 is World Children’s day, a day created by the United Nations in 1954 to remind the world that kids and adults play an important part in society. On this day, kids join together to make their voices heard. They also show how you can do good by taking action.
UNICEF Kid Power and Niantic are celebrating World Children’s Day all month. November’s Mission features activities that let students’ voices be heard and amplified.
We’re especially excited to be partnering with Niantic this World Children’s Day. Niantic, the developers and publishers of Pokémon GO, and UNICEF Kid Power invite students to nominate a location in their community to be a PokéStop. What’s a PokéStop? Pokémon GO players, called Trainers, discover Pokémon as they visit PokéStops, game locations that are important to communities around the world.
How You Can Take Part!
We want your students to introduce the world to a special place in their neighborhood. Whether the park where they hit their first home run or community garden where they volunteer, tell us about it with the Create Your Own PokéStop activity in this month’s Featured Mission. When you submit content to complete this activity in the UNICEF Kid Power Dashboard, your students’ PokéStops and stories could be selected to be featured as gaming locations in Pokémon GO or other Niantic games.
