Privacy Policy

Updated April 10, 2020.

Introduction / Who we are

The privacy of your personal information is very important to Kid Power. With that in mind, we have adopted this privacy policy (“Privacy Policy”) to describe how we collect, maintain, use, and share your information through our website, gokidpower.org (the “Website”), and our Kid Power mobile application (the “Mobile Application”) (collectively, our “Services”), as well as your choices and rights regarding that information. This Privacy Policy applies to Kid Power only, which is owned and operated by Classroom Champions (a 501(c)3 nonprofit incorporated in the United States).  This Privacy Policy does not apply to any of our affiliates or any websites or mobile applications maintained by other companies or organizations to which we link.

Note to Parents and Teachers

Kid Power (also referred to as “Kid Power”, “we” and “us”) is a growing movement of kids, families and schools, working together to end global malnutrition one step at a time. Kids under the age of 13 years old (“Kids” or “Kid”) are not permitted to participate in Kid Power without your approval, as either their parent, guardian or teacher. To allow a Kid to become a part of Kid Power, you must first download the Mobile Application and create a Kid Power account. We call you “Account Holders”. As an Account Holder, you can allow Kids to become a part of Kid Power as “Participants”. For purposes of this Privacy Policy, there are very important distinctions between Account Holders and Participants, which are discussed below.

Please continue reading. And thank you for each and every step you take!

The term “Website” refers to the website located at gokidpower.org. The term “Mobile Application” refers to our Kid Power smartphone mobile application. In combination, we refer to our Website and Mobile Application as our “Services”.

For this Privacy Policy, the term “Account Holders” refers to individuals who are over the age of 12 and who have an account with Kid Power, allowing them to sign into the Mobile Application or Website using their email address and password (“Credentials”). Parents and Teachers are examples of Account Holders. The term “Participants” refers to individuals who synchronize device data (for instance, data from Kid Power Band) to the Mobile Application. Kids are examples of Participants. The term “Visitors” refers to individuals who visit the Website without signing in or synchronizing device data. Together, Account Holders, Participants, and Visitors are referred to as “Users”.

Personal Information” is information that can be used to identify and contact you (such as your full name, address, telephone number or email address). Certain technical information, such as a “Unique Identifier” (e.g. device ID, IP address, etc.) is also categorized as Personal Information.

Demographic Information” is general information about you, such as your age, gender or country of residence. If Demographic Information is collected at the same time as your Personal Information, we store the Demographic Information with your Personal Information. Demographic Information is not considered Personal Information unless it is linked to Personal Information about a specific user. There are instances in which we will use your Demographic Information separately from your Personal Information. In these instances, when anonymous data about Users is grouped together for analytical purposes, we refer to the data as “Aggregate Information” or “Anonymized Information”.

Please refer to each sub-section below to learn more about the different types of information we collect from each type of User.

Account Holders
We ask Account Holders for Personal Information when they create a Kid Power account. Personal Information we require may include full name, mailing address, email address, and phone number. This information is combined with year of birth, and additionally school name when registering a Kid Power School account. This information is used to assist Account Holders during their engagement with the Services, inform Account Holders of future related services which may interest them, and request feedback about the Application or Website. Account Holders can choose to opt-out of such communications (see the “opt-out preferences” disclosure section). We do not collect Personally Identifiable Information (PII) for minors. Please email us at [email protected] for assistance.
Certain Account Holders have the ability to invite 3rd party individuals into our system via their email address for invitational and registration purposes. These individuals may email us at [email protected] to request that we remove this information from our database at any time.
